Articulatory synthesis using a vocal-tract model of variable length

چکیده
A method of articulatory synthesis using a vocal-tract model with variable length is proposed. The vocal-tract length is derived prior to the unique determination of vocal-tract area parameters incorporated with a codebook that maps formants to vocal-tract length is used. A two-dimensional interpolation function for irregularly spaced data is conducted to confine vocal-tract length in the first and second formant plain to generate the codebook. The reflection-type line analog (RTLA) model of articulatory synthesis is employed to generate speech sound. Variable vocal-tract length yields the issue of discretetime implementation with multi-rate sampling of the RTLA model. Multi-rate sampling conversion is conducted.

Manipulation of the prosodic features of vocal tract length, nasality and articulatory precision using articulatory synthesis
Vocal emotions, as well as different speaking styles and speaker traits are characterized by a complex interplay of multiple prosodic features. Natural sounding speech synthesis with the ability to control such paralinguistic aspects requires the manipulation of the corresponding prosodic features. With traditional concatenative speech synthesis it is easy to manipulate the “primary” prosodic f...
متن کاملArticulatory VCV Synthesis from EMA Data
This paper reports experiments in synthesizing VCV sequences with French unvoiced stop or fricative consonants, using a time-domain simulation of the vocal-tract system. The necessary dynamics of the vocal-tract shape are derived in two steps: first, time-varying parameters of an articulatory model are calculated automatically from electromagnetic articulography (EMA) data, using a method previ...
متن کاملImproving the kelly-lochbaum vocal tract model using conical tube sections and fractional delay filtering techniques
An articulatory model of speech production is usually constructed by approximating the profile of the vocal tract using cylindrical tube sections. This is implemented by a digital ladder filter that is called the Kelly–Lochbaum model. In this paper we propose an extended approach, where the tube sections approximating the profile of the tract are conical instead of cylindrical. Furthermore, the...
متن کاملSimulation of Vocal Tract Growth for Articulatory Speech Synthesis
We present a three-dimensional articulatory model of the vocal tract with the capability to simulate growth from infancy to adulthood. This model is intended to be applied for the articulatory synthesis of children’s speech and the study of speech acquisition. To generate the vocal tract shape for a given age (1–20 years) and sex, we rescale the anatomic structures of an adult reference vocal t...
متن کاملAn acoustic analysis of lion roars. II: Vocal tract characteristics
This paper makes the first attempt to perform an acoustic-to-articulatory inversion of a lion (Panthera leo) roar. The main problems that one encounters in attempting this, is the fact that little is known about the dimensions of the vocal tract, other than a general range of vocal tract lengths. Precious little is also known about the articulation strategies that are adopted by the lion while ...
